So below you’ll find our compiled list of the most memorable Christmas episodes throughout the years. They’re also great for when we’ve already checked off all our favorite Christmas movies. But there's something about Christmas specials from our favorite TV shows that add just the right amount of holiday flare we need to kick off the holiday season. Leslie: “The fact that Yahtzee isn’t in the rec centre is a tragedy on par with human trafficking.Between singing our favorite Christmas anthem (hint: the one by Mariah Carey!), decorating our homes with festive trees, and preparing a cozy Christmas feast: Getting into the holiday spirit is a piece of cake. It is a really lovely episode and one that belongs in the top half of my favourite Christmas television episodes. Leslie finds out that her campaign managers are walking out on her running for city counsel, only to have all her friends volunteer to run her campaign for her, kicking off the major plot of the season. The ending of the episode is really… “cute” (as Ron would say), and we get a really warm end to a Christmas episode with a lot of heart. This sees some hilarious representations of the main characters in candy form, including a marshmallow Ron Swanson, and we also see Andy almost kill himself after eating silver spray painted MnM’s. In the end the gang decide to give Leslie a replica of the Parks Department made out of gingerbread and candy. This is followed by the introduction of Ron’s automatic closing doors and him almost crying due to how much he loves them. And every year she get me something thoughtful and personal… it makes me furious”. This gives us the great Ron line, “every year I give Leslie the same thing I give everyone, a crisp $20 bill. We start this part of the story with a great montage of character asides to the camera where they talk about what they give and receive for Christmas. The other storyline focusses on the whole Parks department coming up with a big Christmas gift for Leslie. I always thought it was a hilarious part of the story and one that can be lost in a solid episode. It is the start of the running joke about Ben being the hilarious rockstar accountant who the local accounting firm desperately want but will never get. We also see Ben looking for a new job after resigning, which leads to some hilarious interviews with the likes of Denis Feinstein and the daggy accounting guy, who’s name no one really remembers. This storyline really embodies Leslie to a tee. Naturally, due to her passion and intensity, she confronts a number of her colleagues and protests for change giving some hilarious lines. Since she can’t work in the Parks department she decides to take action as a citizen, creating a community group focussed on the improvement of the parks and recreation facilities in the town. She is caught by Chris who tells her to go home in the politest way possible. So we kick off the episode with Leslie trying to steal documents from the office so she can work from home, in classic Leslie fashion. The episode takes place after the government inquiry into Leslie and Ben’s relationship, which led to Ben resigning and Leslie being suspended. A large focus of the episode is on gift giving and how everyone wants to get Leslie something amazing since she always finds the perfect Christmas gift. A lot of people would say the Christmas episode from season 5, which I mentioned earlier in my countdown, is superior to this one, however I felt like this was a better Christmas episode.
